Probably the most effective way to learn to sing nicely is to work with a professional. There are countless different singing courses where, under the right guidance, the results come very soon. For those who have the courage to sing right in front of other people, group courses are suitable.
To sing well, you have to practice every day. Singing lessons are not always available for everyone. If you can’t attend singing lessons, consider practicing on your own or a vocal practice program. Here are some things you can do yourself to sing better. It will take time, but you should soon reap the rewards of your work.
Start with breathing exercises. Breathing exercises allow you to better control the height and length of your singing. Which is no surprise: singers who can breathe deeply and regularly will get more out of their voice.
Next, start warming up. Your vocal cords are muscle, just like biceps, and you need to stretch them before heavy weightlifting.
Find your range. Your range is a measure of the highest and lowest tones you are able to sing. Try any number of classical music scales and watch which lower and upper tones are impossible for you to sing cleanly.
Try singing along with the music playing and have a voice recorder nearby. Make sure the music is quiet and your voice is what the recorder is really recording. When you’re done, make sure you’re tuning.
Exercise daily. Practice breathing exercises, a warm-up routine and recording singing every day. Listen to the parts that you can’t handle very well with your voice and keep trying.
